Today was the last day of my semester, yesterday I stumbled upon an old video I watched when I was still in High School. The FREE HUGS CAMPAIGN, watching again made me realize how powerful a Hug is, what it can do to make someone’s gloomy day turn into a summer sunshine day!
So when I got to school today I decided to create my “FREE HUGS” sign. I really didn’t know what would happen, who am I for someone to hug anyway? I ain’t John Lloyd Cruz or someone hot and good looking, but anyway I decided to go down at our school’s lobby. The first hugs I got were from people I know, friends and the guards.
When I went out of our school, a college student from my school stopped in front of me, she looked like she had a rough night, she looked at me for a few seconds and said “Sure I’ll Hug you” - A HUG FROM A TOTAL STRANGER, that was so amazing, the feeling was so different it she smiled as she walked away and in a few minutes people seeing me and my “Co-Huggers” were being hugged by strangers.
College Students, personnel, passers by and so we decided to take our spontaneous FREE HUGS CAMPAIGN in another school, UST. And there more hugs and more people smiled after we hugged each other. We felt really really great that we made at least a hundred people smile for a while.
-Our Free Hugs Campaign was inspired by JUAN MANN, the Australian hugger who started it all in 2004. This day was so fulfilling and full of happiness and Love.
